The leader of Utako Community, Abuja, Alhaji Abdullahi Isha, has cried out to the police ,Alhaji Isha says sex hawkers have invaded his community in their droves – He says their presence is also attracting criminal elements to the area The leader of Utako Community in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, Alhaji Abdullahi Isha has raised an alarm over the activities of prostitutes in the area.


Isha who raised the issue during the FCT Eminent Persons Forum organised by the FCT police command on Tuesday, November 29, lamented that the presence of the prostitutes had also attracted men of shady characters to the community. According to The Punch, he called on the FCT Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Mustafa, to come to the rescue of his community.
His words: “I want to call the attention of the Commissioner of Police to the activities  of prostitutes 

who have taken over my community. “Their population in the community has increased in recent times and they are also attracting criminal elements. We want the police to come and address the situation before things get out of hand.” Utako is in the phase 2 development plan of Abuja. It is mainly a residential area. The area is filled with hotels and relaxation parks which makes it attractive to sex hawkers. It has good road network and there are many beautiful residential houses. Most Commercial transport companies have their terminals in Utako. Utako also houses major commercial transport companies terminals and is about 10minutes drive from the Central Business District.

Meanwhile, the special committee on cleanup of Ikoyi, Lagos, in a joint operation with men of Lagos State Task Force on Environmental and Special Offences, arrested eight sex workers around the Ikoyi area of the state recently.
