Bayelsa declares N4.1bn surplus revenue for March

Even as it owes teach­ers’ salaries, the Bayelsa State Government has declared N4.1 billion revenue surplus for March 2017.

Governor Seriake Dickson disclosed this on Thursday in Yenagoa, the state capital at the monthly transparency media briefing for March. He said that the state declared N983 million as internally- Gener­ated Revenue in February.

Dickson, who was repre­sented by his Deputy, Rear Ad­miral Gboribiogha John Jonah (Rtd), announced a gross in­flow of N11.5 billion from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC).

He said the FAAC com­prised the statutory allocation of N1.3 billion, derivation N8 billion, VAT N619 million while the Excess Crude was N126 million.

On Civil Servants Salary for the month, Dickson said it gulped N3.6 billion, political appointees was N216 million while money transferred to Local Government Areas was N612 million.

He noted that the state gov­ernment was committed to the well-being of its workers, say­ing that both the staffs at the state-owned Institution, Niger-Delta University (NDU) were also paid.

“We have also paid the staff members at the state univer­sity; I must tell you that all salaries for March have been settled,” he said.
