Delta Post Primary Education Board battling allegation of records’ falsification

 
Delta State Post Primary Education Board (PPEB) is currently enmeshed in alleged records’ falsification and other related acts.

Sources said that recent verification exercise initiated by the state government to look into the bloated workforce of the board uncovered litany of records’ falsification by teaching and non-teaching staffs, many of whom allegedly falsified records of their ages and academics.
But the Executive Chairman of the Board, Mrs. Christiana Etaluku who spoke to DAILY POST on Wednesday in Asaba said: “The board had stumbled on litany of records’ falsification, we will not tolerate such act, those involved in the act, their names have been compiled to be forwarded to the governor for the approval of their sack. It is unfortunate the verification exercise exposed the rot in the board.”

Further investigation revealed that within the teaching staff of the board, academic and age falsification are alleged to be booming as many of them who claimed to have bagged masters’ degree (s) in various disciplines, were found to have falsified them, and had been working with them over the years.
On age falsification, further investigation revealed that many of them swore to an affidavit, reducing their ages to cover up their tracks.
Unfortunately for them, their real ages(s) were discovered in some of the documents they had earlier submitted to the board, and were put into their files.

A member of the verification exercise committee of the board, who did not want her name mentioned in the print told DAILY POST: “We uncovered litany of records’ falsification, age, academics, others among the teaching staff, they tendered affidavit for age declaration, and forgot the earlier documents in their files, many of them are above 70 years, and do not want to retire at the exact age of 60 years”.
It was gathered that cost of affidavit which used to be N200 and N300 at Magistrate Courts, High Court, cost more between N2, 000 and N3, 000, 00 for these PPEB staff who are desperate in ensuring their records are backed up properly with affidavits of age and missing credentials.

Speaking further, the Executive Chairman, Mrs. Christiana Etaluku urged the staff to work collectively and assiduously to avoid whatever will jeopardize their career, adding: “We as staff should avoid falsification, do things that will enhance the productivity of the board, avoid dent to your career as it is unfair to have your records falsified”.
